Blue Cross is pleased to offer rehabilitation programs to patients coping with chronic or acute pain. Services may include laser therapy and therapeutic exercises. It is strongly recommended for those recovering from orthopedic surgeries, experiencing osteoarthritic discomfort or who have a sport-related or other injury.
Laser therapy is a non-invasive, pain-free, and drug-free option that uses clinically tested wavelengths of light to treat pain and inflammation directly at the site. The release of naturally produced endorphins help relieve pain and the injured cells within the body absorb the laser energy and are then stimulated to heal at a faster rate. Results have shown to increase patients’ comfort, mobility, and rate of healing with no known side-effects.
Should you be referred by your pet’s DVM or surgeon or you feel rehab could benefit your pet, you can expect to have an initial consultation with Dr. Ciggaar, Certified Canine Rehabilitation Practitioner (CCRT)DVM. She will develop a rehab plan suited to your pet. Treatments will then be carried out with soon to be a Certified Companion Animal Therapist (CCAT)VT, Natalie Bain. Both these team-members are active in the sport dog community and are passionate about providing the right solution for your pet’s recovery. Although some patients experience immediate relief, the treatment length and frequency will vary for each situation.
